RAM and ROM and their DIFFERENCE - ( types of PRIMARY MEMORY )

 INTRODUCTION :

Computer is an electronic device which takes data and information from the user as input , processesd on it as per instruction and display the result as output .

All the data , information ,output are store in the memory of a computer .

In this blog we will learn about types of PRIMARY MEMORY .

Memory of a computer one of the most important part for computer . This is not wrong to say that without memory can't perform tasks . Primary memory is a type of memory and it is further divided into two types .

1. RAM -( Random Access Memory )

2. ROM -( Read Only Memory )

RAM :- ( Random Access Memory )

It is a type of primary memory . It is also called read write memory . It is used store the data , programs that CPU requires at the time of execution of program . The very important point for this memory is , whenever the power is gets turned off or system is shut down , all data are cleared from this memory which is on running . This is why it is called volatile memory .

RAM is further classified into two types :-

1. SRAM -( Static Random Access Memory )

2. DRAM - ( Dynamic Random Access Memory )

ROM :- ( Read Only Memory )

It is also a type of primary type . This memory are non - volatile memory that permanentally store the instructions for computers . This simply means , it always their data even if the power gets turned off .Whatever the data present in the ROM , can only be read . It is used as firmware .

ROM can be classified into 4 types .

1. MROM - ( Masked Read Only Memory )

2. PROM - ( Programmable Read Only Memory )

3. EPROM - ( Erasable and Programmable Read Only Memory )

4. EEROM - ( Electrically  Erasable and Programmable Read Only Memory )
