 Hello dear friends , in this blog we will learn about operating system in computer . so lets start reading .



OVERVIEW :-

Operating system is a system software which is used to help in managing the resources of a computer and it also provides a platform for the application program running in the computer .

OR , we can also say ,

Operating system acts like a interface between computer and it's application programs .

There are some popular operating system , given below .

  • MS DOS 
  • MS windows
  • UNIX
WORK (  FUNCTION ) OF A OPERATING SYSTEM :-

There are so many several types of work which a operating system do . The primary task of an operating system include allocating various resources of computer , scheduling processed , managing storage , controlling input and output , tracking files and so many work it can do .

It also supports various network protocols which helps in sharing and accessing the resources of a computer over a large network of computer .

in short , 

  • Memory management
  • File management 
  • process management 
  • Handling input and output 
  • controlling peripheral devices like disk drivers and printers .
  • Security
TYPES OF OPERATING SYSTEM :-

Depending upon characterstics , operating system can be categorized into following types .

  • Batch Operating System
  • Interactive  Operating System
  • Multiuser  Operating System
  • Multitasking  Operating System
  • Multi-threading  Operating System
